𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗛𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 🤖⚓
WISTA Hellas monthly gathering that took place on October 21st brought members and friends together for a lively discussion on AI in shipping, exploring its applications, decision-making, trust and the human role.
Selected through our 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗹 and featuring three WISTA Hellas members on the panel, the event put our motto into practice: 𝗕𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀!
From commercial shipping to vessel operations, the discussion highlighted AI’s opportunities and challenges. But what truly made the gathering special was the remarkable engagement of our audience. The thoughtful questions and open exchange of views turned the discussion into a meaningful collective experience, highlighting the value of learning from one another and creating a space where everyone feels free to contribute.
Two key messages stood out: 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗸𝗲𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗜 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. As we embrace new technologies, human judgement and critical thinking remain essential. We must learn to use AI without letting it do all our thinking for us or becoming “confidiots” by blindly trusting its outputs!
A big thank you to our panelists, moderator and everyone who contributed to such an engaging discussion.
